DAVID ROCKS!!!!!

David is the biggest stud because, yes, I know he's hot... but more importantly than that, he woke up at 3:30 AM with me to walk with me to the starting line at the Disneyland Half Marathon! That's hot people... Then he positioned himself on the course to find me as I was running. Now, we have to get a good system going for the actual picture-taking. Other runners did not move out of the way and kept running in front of me just at the moment he was going to take the picture, the nerve!! Well, he was persistent and got some good shots :) and after the race we spent the next 10 hours or so at Disneyland. I got to ride Space Mountain twice!! Wheeeeee!!

It's really more of a miracle that I woke up
at 3:30 in the morning than anything else.

Overlooking the start of the race.
It's only mile 3 so I'm still very excited to
be here :)
Me, Heidi and her brother Wes, who ran
the race with a broken middle toe!
Immediately after Space Mountain, yes, I look crazed.

Running 101

I know, I know... many of you are probably like my sister-in-law, you'll never run from anything but danger :) but in the event that some of you are thinking about adding running to your exercise routine, I wanted to share an article in Runner's World, Running 101, to help you get started. The article includes tips for running as well as a 10 week training schedule to get started safely and without injury.

We did it!!

Well, we did it!! Robby and I both finished the Mardi Gras Marathon and the weather made it tough. Hot and humid. Because the course was flat, I guess I didn't really believe that the weather would be a factor in my finish time, but it definitely was. I finished in 5 hours and 11 minutes which is much slower than my last marathon. I ran the Rock and Roll marathon here in San Diego in 4 hours, 39 minutes and thought I could have done better then too. But still an accomplishment no matter... and I'm already planning for my next marathon, either Marine Corps marathon in late October or Rock and Roll Phoenix in January.

Mardi Gras Marathon

It's right around the corner... I am currently training for the Mardi Gras Marathon in New Orleans on Feb. 25 and soon I will start getting anxious about the performance... I am a planner and although I haven't completely stuck to my training plan, I ran my last long run, 20 miles, last weekend, and I wasn't even sore afterwards. I kept wondering what I had done wrong :) But now my planning mind turns to travel, food, rest... the crime rate in New Orleans!! Robby and I might be literally running for our lives. My goal is to run the marathon in 3:45 to qualify for the Boston marathon next year, but I will be happy also to beat my last marathon time of 4:39.

I'm already planning to run the Marine Corps marathon in October, since my brother is going to run that one as well.
